Biography
Isabel Velasco is a Ph.D. candidate in comparative literature at Brown University. She received her B.A. in Ancient Studies from Barnard College, Columbia University (2015). Her research centers on 16th- and 17th-century New Spain, with a focus on the construction of indigenous subjects and the dynamics of colonial discourse through the uneven interactions between Nahuatl, Latin, and Spanish.
